The new and improved “All the Strange Hours”

Welcome to the new site for this weblog. It’s now hosted at my own URL and is running under the Wordpress blog software. This has a number of advantages, most importantly an Index/Categories system. I think that’s important for a weblog of this type, where useful information is strewn around all over the place. On Blogger, that was impossible, and I was tired of waiting for the “Blogger in Beta” system to either go fully online or invite me to switch over to the test system. Wordpress has a number of other features that I’ll be implementing more fully in the future. It feels like I’ve taken the training wheels off.

I apologize for any inconvenience. All old posts and comments have been imported to the new system. I’m working to get all old posts categorized and right now I’m about halfway done. I’m also re-importing all of the graphics and correcting all internal links.

This is the new URL: http://www.rourkevisualart.com/wordpress/

Please take a moment to update your bookmarks.

If you have any suggestions for the new site, or if you notice any problems, please let me know via comments.

Update

All images have been re-imported and all internal links have been corrected.

A note to say thankyou. I read this post of yours in praise of Wordpress about the time you wrote it - I’ve been a regular reader for a while. I think it was this site that sent me over to Cennini - but I wont hold that against you :) Anyway this post it stuck with me and swayed my decision to go use WP for my own blog.

I’ve been planning on revamping my website for a while and wanted a blog as part of it to replace the old “news” thing I had set up in tables. Not the best but it worked.

Anyway armed with a bit of HTML and absolutely no CSS or PHP experience I started. It was a lot harder than I thought mostly because I was stubborn about matching my website pages. OK, so I care what things look like - something to do with the art…

But - it’s finished, it’s up and it works. I linked your page in my sidebar by way of a simple thankyou. For getting me started with the right software to begin with and having your site sitting there to prove it could be done - just the right encouragement to keep going when it all looked too hard.

I have to say too that I now have even more respect for what you’ve achieved here than I had when I started. Thankyou and well done!

Amanda

Amanda,

I’m glad WordPress is working for you. I have not regretted the switch.
