Check out these details of “The Madonna and Cannon Van Der Paele” by Jan Van Ecyk. What’s particularly amazing to consider is how new this “Ars Nova” movement was when Van Eyck was painting. Almost no one had done anything like it before. And yet Van Eyck’s work is so stunningly fluent.

Congratulated with these superb portraits of our Jan Van Eyck from Maaseik (Belgium/Flanders/Limburg)!! We are in search of genealogic information concerning the Van Eyck brothers and documents concerning the stay of Jan Van Eyck in the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.
Greetings, Wim Corstjens
There is, at present, an exhibition taking place in Valencia (Spain) which deals with thiss matter. It is called “In search of th Golden Fleece. Europe of Princes/Europe of Cities” and will be opened until June 30th. You may be able to obtain the catalogue (2 volumes, 1200 pages) through: Fundaci´ñon Jaume II el Just, Calle Corres, 3, 3º,6ª; 66002 Valencia; Spain. It is hardbound and includes contributions of ver relevant scholars. I think it costs about 30 or 60 euros. Regards. Eduard Mira
