All the Strange Hours is one year old today. At times I’ve had a flood of ideas and stuff to write about. More recently, the posts have been coming less often (although I’m currently writing more often). It’s been extremely enjoyable for me and a good way to clarify my thoughts about art.
I’d like to thank everyone who came here and stayed. I am especially grateful to all of the thoughtful commenters here.
are langridge powder pigments the same as other brand names of powder pigment
Ah, grasshopper, you have mastered the non sequitur! Now let us work on your grammar and punctuation.
Pamela,
I haven’t used them. So far as I know they are perfectly suitable for making into artist’s paint.
aboriginal art sold at auction that has been overpainted by restorers only trouble is the auction houses do not tell the bidders pre auction bidding
Pamela,
Do you think you could try having one thing you say relate in some way to what you’ve said before or to what others have said? We don’t actually have the ability to read your mind; we can only see what you’ve read and use that to try to figure out what you are getting at.
How does your question about pigments relate to your comment about overpainting aboriginal art?
Dear David I only wanted your opinion re aboriginal art being auctioned , without the bidders knowing the works have been overpainted if people knew ofcourse it would lower the price .
Pamela,
I’m sorry if it sounds like I’m lecturing, but when you switch topics abruptly, it is helpful to let people know what you are doing and why. Internet discourse is not like talking with someone in your living room. We can’t hear your tone of voice, observe your body language, or get information from other nonverbal cues. We can only go by what you write. Because of that, we all need to provide a lot more information in words than we might be used to giving in conversation. If not, misunderstandings are inevitable.
The hidden modification to aboriginal art is of course inappropriate.
the poor aboriginal person does not get much if any thing from the sale of their art , the auction houses reap the benefit not the artist
