Beautiful realistic piece, David.
Sensual. But the way the denim blurs into the upper background looks soft, almost cuddly. Paintings associating jeans with edgy sexuality are not unknown, but these jeans look sort of worn, tired. Effete.
But very tactile. :) The lower right corner, where the image is more worked, looks sharp, like too-tight jeans digging into the hip.
So, um. I suppose I’m saying: I don’t know why this strikes me as a vaguely discomforting image. And I hope I haven’t offended you. (I’ve never worn jeans all that well.) In that your painting has added connotation to its subject-matter, I’m glad to have seen it. Thanks.
Wish I could see the original. SO frustrating, looking at paintings in pixels!
