I only paint in Oils and Pastels so that’s the paint-with-me’s you get! Here I will paint whatever I like, and if you feel like a little bug is biting you and going: Paint me! Paint me NOW! You are welcome to join.

The beautiful female figure has been a subject of interest to artists since the beginning of history.  Almost every great artist is represented by examples of his impression of the figure.

Learning how to draw is not difficult. How well you’ll do  depends on Read the rest of this entry »

I guess the king of my relationship with art, the key to it is love. It sounds cheesy, I know. But there are no two ways about it. Art is my life. I cannot breathe without it. When I paint, it is done on one breath, on inspiration that takes all the techniques I know of and carries along with them in a whirlpool of passion: the paint is literally flying everywhere, things are falling around me, and I am just taken by the process like by some magical spell. I may actually levitate during this, I don’t know!. I’ve never looked down before. This is inspiration. A feeling, when an artist forgets about himself, or where he is. Forgets and trusts in himself at this moment – This moment – when it’s not a time to read, or listen to audio, not a time to check the Real Color Wheel for the tenth time, or watch Scrubs, and certainly not a time to think and analyze. A short intro

Thanks, Dave. It’s my pleasure to contribute, and I am honored to be the first, I am sure, of many to come. Although I registered under Alien Girl, you know, I hope, that it’s not what my parents named me. I wish they did though. My real name is Angela Leppard, I am an aspiring artist, and a mom to a 6 year old angel, from Northern California. In my early years I’ve traveled with my parents all over Europe and, although I have taken art courses, including some in college, I am primarily self-taught in the techniques that interest me and in which I work best. I’m constantly educating myself through seminars, classes, books and magazines, traveling and visits to galleries and museums. Since childhood, I have been inspired and motivated by visual art, photography, and the natural beauty of people, places, and scenes around me. My hobbies include: feng shui, crazy art experiments and all sorts of mischief! The nature of my work, be it portraits or still life, is all about the magic of color – yes, I am in love with color. I see color as pure, bright, bold and luminous, always full of life. I see color in the shadows, and in the grayest of clouds; color in the textures, in the atmosphere and in the air we breathe. I am hoping to bring to this site some excitement about art and color, along with the technicalities they come with, but I will do it in my own, structured way. Structure is beneath art’s flesh after all. One of the topics I will start here is “Oil Painting Tips Weekly”. Look for it in upcoming “art-ticles”. So long for now!
